Getting my hands dirty

Again today was a lovely day, and because I had so many little plants left over (I had bought a pack of 25 geraniums and a pack of 12 snapdragons) I had to go and get some more containers. After clearing the fence yesterday, I decided I wanted to get some window boxes for some sweet peas too.

So, off I went to the shops. The local B&Q only had mini sweet peas, and I really wanted some that were slightly bigger than that, so I returned to the house with my compost and various pots and some strawberry plants (I couldn't resist!) and googled to see if there were any proper garden centres in the area. Turns out there is one just down the road, down a little lane.

The Reedley Garden Centre is lovely. It is a long way down a tiny lane, so far down that you're just thinking you've taken a wrong turning despite the sign at the top of the road, when you come across it. And they have lots and lots of plants, and everything you could want for your garden, plus pond stuff and aquarium goodies.

They had some sweet peas in pots, but these are the tall ones. I didn't really want the tall ones, but to get the lower type, I'd have to grow them from seed, and I'm not brilliant at doing that, so since I wasn't that bothered, I got four sweet peas and some netting for them to crawl up.

Then I spent the afternoon potting. I've still got 9 geraniums and 7 snapdragons to plant, plus some bulbs that I think I'll scatter randomly about the back garden.
